Cold Case – Bay Area police say they know who killed an 18-year-old security guard.

The young security guard was killed while at her job in 1979

Detectives believe they finally know who killed a young woman while she was working as a security guard in Sunnyvale.

On Oct. 27, 1979, 18-year-old Elena Estella Mena worked at the Western Electric offices at 444 De Guigne Drive. A man entered the lobby, armed with a knife, and attempted to assault her sexually. He stabbed Mena repeatedly during the attack until another employee stumbled onto the scene, causing the man to flee. First responders rushed to the office, but Mena died of her wounds.
