Arrest made in London, Ont., robbery that included an attack on security guard

What is interesting about this story and the media around it is that all the media focused on the details of the robbery and $1,000.00 of recovered stolen property. Global News says, “Police say a man entered a business in the 1900 block of Dundas Street East on Wednesday around 5:40 p.m. In addition to stealing property, the man is alleged to have attacked a security officer.”

As usual, there is no follow-up on the Security Guard. Once again, we at The Guard Desk ask… Why are Security Guards always on the periphery and not the main story? $1,000.00 of stolen property trumps the health and safety of a guard.

So we ask, did the Guard work for an Agency with benefits? Did the Guard get assistance filing for WSIB, how badly injured were they, and did anyone offer that Guard assistance with PTSD or mental health like a Police Officer would have been?

Security guards are our frontline of defence in society; why wasn’t that the lead in the story? Security Guard Attacked and Assaulted During a Robbery for $1,000.00 in merchandise.
